The Alphenix Hybrid Angio-CT (4D CT) offers more possibilities to deliver safer and better treatment to your patients across a wide range of clinical applications. With a streamlined workflow in a single setting, there is no need to transfer patients between rooms, which improves patient care and boosts productivity. Switch easily between CT and angiography system to diagnose, treat and verify.
This roundtable discussion provides practical, experience-based advice for departments considering Angio-CT, along with clinical, operational and economic insights to help build a data-driven business case.

Slow and difficult transfers between fluoroscopy and CT can limit your opportunities to utilise an Angio-CT as a combined modality. With Canon’s Alphenix Angio-CT you can switch between Angio and CT in seconds, allowing you to utilise the system to its full potential.
Seamless integration provides you with the confidence you need during complex interventions.
“You do not hesitate to acquire CT images whenever they are needed.”
Dr Julien Garnon
University Hospital of Strasbourg, France
The Alphenix interventional systems feature the world’s first high definition (Hi-Def) detector with 76 micron pixel imaging mode. With more than twice the spatial resolution of conventional flat panel detectors (FPD), the Hi-Def detector helps clinicians visualise fine details and anatomical structures and deploy devices with accuracy and confidence.
Harnessing the enormous computational power of a Deep Convolutional Neural Network (DCNN), Advanced intelligent Clear-IQ Engine (AiCE) is trained to differentiate signal from noise, so that the algorithm can suppress noise while enhancing signal. Because it is trained with advanced MBIR, it exhibits high spatial resolution. But unlike MBIR, AiCE deep learning reconstruction overcomes the challenges (image appearance and/or reconstruction speed) in clinical adoption.
“At St George Hospital, integrated Angio-CT is redefining trauma and interventional care, delivering faster decisions, better outcomes, and a new model for multidisciplinary treatment. Angio-CT provides a buffet of interventional skills, all in one procedure, in one room.”
- Dr. Suhrid Lodh
Director of Interventional Radiology
"Switching between C-Arm and CT position takes only seconds. Changing from Angio to Arterial CT is very fast, and we do not hesitate to perform this if we feel that the tumour feeder may also have branches to another territory. This is very helpful in prostate embolisation, TACE and SIRT procedures. "
- Prof. Alban Denys
Head of Interventional Radiology at CHUV
“With Canon’s new Angio CT system, we have become more efficient and have been able to shorten the waiting times significantly for several interventions.”
- Dr. Olle Haller

“it is possible to check whether the procedure has been successful or not immediately after the procedure by checking the contrast pooling of the prostate, conducting non-enhanced CT after prostate artery embolization. With this information, they could explain whether the procedure was successful or not to the patient. All patients were treated and discharged on the same day of the procedure.”

Chief of Intervention Center at the Human Medical Imaging & Intervention Center, Korea.
The Alphenix systems provide a comprehensive suite of advanced imaging tools to enhance visualisation. Applications are integrated into the new feature-rich workstation to improve workflow.
3D image display changes according to the system conditions such as the C-arm angle, SID, field size, tabletop height, and tabletop panning.
This application facilitates extraction and segmentation of identified aneurysms on the cerebral arteries, allowing for assessment of morphological characteristics.
Axial, coronal, sagittal and oblique reference are used for optimal interventional guidance plan.
"The development of true 3D fluoroscopy on the Aquilion ONE has brought real clinical benefits for tackling even the most challenging biopsy procedures."

Prof. Dr. Mathias Langer, Medical Director of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, University Hospital Freiburg
Needle guidance function enables positioning of the C-arm to the optimum viewing position and display of a puncture guide line for assistance.
SUREGuidance provides a fast and accurate means of centralising the target exposure area between CT and Angiography. The CT gantry, c-arm and patient table move automatically, improving workflow, accuracy and reducing procedure time.
Implementation of a Hybrid Angio–CT system: increased short‑term revenue at an academic radiology department
Average case volume per month increased 12% in the Hybrid Angio–CT suite when compared to the previous traditional angiography suite (P<0.05). The variety of IR procedures in the Hybrid Angio–CT suite also expanded to include more complex interventional radiology and interventional oncology procedures.

High Definition Imaging Reduces Procedure Time Without Impacting Patient Dose in Image-Guided Neuro Interventional Procedures
Preliminary results from over 4,000 neurointerventional procedures at a single centre demonstrate that the improved spatial resolution of the Hi-Def detector may result in reduced procedure time and number of irradiation events. In addition, there was no observable increase in patient dose with the utilisation of the Hi-Def detector.
