| Our History (Corporate Profile) | Canon Medical Systems ANZ Pty Limited’s geneses started in Australia in July 1986 when it was the Medical Division of a Japanese multinational. It has operated continuously since that time and its mission has been “to improve the quality of life for all people”. It delivered on the mission, with medical innovations, that is “Made for Life”—made to improve the lives of patients, clinicians and administrators. Our parent’s history in the medical equipment business began with research and development of X-ray tubes. Since then, it has released many first-in-Japan and first-in-the-world technologies and products. In recent years, it has expanded our business into areas outside diagnostic imaging, such as in vitro diagnosis. As a pioneer in the medical equipment business, Canon Medical Systems will engage in the development of technology and products in the pursuit of offering the optimum healthcare solutions. Canon Medical Systems Corporation’s legacy was built with pioneering medical technology, such as, the world’s first X-ray machines in 1932 and Japan’s first Magnetic Resonance Imaging systems (MRI) in 1983. Our Vision was strengthened in 2016 with our acquisition by Canon. Canon entered the healthcare business in 1940 with the development of Japan’s first indirect X-ray camera that was used for the early detection of pulmonary tuberculosis. Canon Medical Systems Corporation brings together two cutting-edge technology businesses, founded with similar values of creativity, flexibility and patient-friendly healthcare solutions. Today, the combined history of research and innovation drive forward Canon Medical’s vision for building a world-class healthcare enterprise. We joined the Canon Group in 2016 as a core part of Canon's growing medical equipment business, and our company name changed to Canon Medical Systems ANZ Pty Limited on January 4, 2018. |
