Advanced intelligent Clear-IQ Engine (AiCE)

Welcome to the age of AI-assisted CT

AiCE is an innovative Deep Learning Reconstruction technology that’s been trained to reduce noise and boost signal to deliver sharp, clear and distinct images at speed.

AiCE images have:
  • Low Noise
  • Natural Image Texture*
  • Sharp High Contrast Resolution
  • Clear Low Contrast Detectability
AiCE is available on:

Reduce radiation dose and improve image quality

St Vincent’s Hospital’s first-hand clinical experience with Deep Learning Reconstruction

Klaire Garnica, CT section manager at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, NSW, presents their department’s findings how deep learning reconstruction technology on their Aquilion PRISM CT scanner made clear improvements in DLP dose reduction and image quality after using the technology in clinical practice for over a year.

Six different cases based on their diagnostic value were assessed - regions included soft tissue chest, lung, cardiac, abdomen, lumbar spine, pelvis – using two reconstruction methods – especially for thin 1mm reconstructions. Particularly, the hospital compared the results for their annual Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) dose audit.

Watch what their findings were regarding the percentage of radiation dose reduction (DLP) they achieved using this innovative AI-enabled reconstruction method, with great dose savings against national dose reference levels.

Deep Learning Reconstruction (DLR)

Harnessing the enormous computational power of a Deep Convolutional Neural Network (DCNN), Advanced intelligent Clear-IQ Engine (AiCE) is trained to differentiate signal from noise, so that the algorithm can suppress noise while enhancing signal. Because it is trained with advanced MBIR, it exhibits high spatial resolution. But unlike MBIR, AiCE deep learning reconstruction overcomes the challenges (image appearance and/or reconstruction speed) in clinical adoption.

Better IQ. Lower dose. Easy workflow.

"On our Aquilion ONE GENESIS a new Deep Learning Reconstruction, named AiCE, was recently installed. Compared to our previous reconstructions we noticed significantly improved IQ with AiCE.

The clinical images have less noise and are sharper, we noticed an increase of ~25% SNR and CNR.

Moreover the dose decreased by ~20% for body imaging and ~40% for cardiac examinations.

The AiCE implementation was easy and just turned ON by the Canon application specialists. We scan approximately 80 patients per day and therefore high throughput is essential for our site. AiCE is implemented into our protocols helping to streamline our daily workflow."

Superior Image Quality

"AiCE image quality is superior to all other reconstruction technologies I have seen so far.

The noise is greatly reduced and the images have a natural texture appearance.

AiCE has quick reconstruction which allows use in every protocol without disturbing the workflow, even with double recons like we do for chest and Chest Abdomen and Pelvis examinations. "
