TOKYO, November 7, 2022—Last year, Canon Inc. acquired Redlen Technologies Inc., one of the world's leading companies in creating new technologies related to the development and manufacture of semiconductor detector modules. Canon Medical Systems Corporation, a group company of Canon Inc., has developed the first domestically produced photon-counting CT system incorporating Redlen's advanced technologies. This system has been installed at the National Cancer Center Exploratory Oncology Research & Clinical Trial Center in Japan, where it is currently used to conduct research exploring the clinical applications of PCCT.

(Rochester, MN, USA) have signed a licensing agreement for the purpose of incorporating the advanced Magnetic Resonance Elastography (MRE), developed by Resoundant on the Canon MRI platforms. Canon Medical Systems Corporation has begun a collaborative research project with the National Cancer Center Japan Exploratory Oncology Research & Clinical Trial Center (NCC-EPOC) and EAST Hospital to investigate the clinical usefulness of photon counting computed tomography (PCCT), a next-generation diagnostic imaging system. This collaborative research is based on a framework agreement formalized in July 2020 and a basic joint research agreement in November with the National Cancer Center Japan.
