BOSS HAILS NEW CENTRE

STATE OF THE ART MEDICAL IMAGING SUITE NOW OPERATIONAL AT AON TRAINING COMPLEX

David Moyes declared Manchester United now have “the best medical facilities of any football club in the world” at the unveiling of an impressive new suite at the Aon Training Complex.

The Reds’ official medical systems partner Toshiba have installed state-of-the-art Ultrasound, MRI and CT scanners at the training ground, the first of their kind in the UK.

They will help club doctor Steve McNally and his staff make earlier diagnoses of injuries, refine the rehabilitation process and facilitate ways of maintaining players’ longevity at the top level – among many other benefits.

And Moyes believes the pioneering equipment is sure to wow any transfer targets he sets his sights on in the coming seasons.

“It’s a wonderful facility that we can show off to new players and something we should be very proud of,” the Reds boss said.

“Manchester United has great partnerships and to be working with Toshiba is important to attract new players to the club. The Aon Training Complex is one of the leading football centres in the world and to have this new medical unit connected to it is fantastic.

The new facility will allow the club to conduct all player treatment on site, including medicals with prospective new signings, something Moyes feels is crucial.

“It’s private and somewhere the players can trust, which is important for us,” he said. “It’s a great on-site facility where they can come and know they’ll get the right decision made about their injury.

“We will be able to get scans quicker and have a better idea of when players can train. That will help us get them on the field quicker, which will, in turn, result in fewer injuries.”

Moyes’ first-team coach Phil Neville, who was also at the unveiling, has seen the huge medical advances made in football since he started out as a young player at United’s old training ground, The Cliff.

“It’s almost unrecognisable from The Cliff,” he said. “We have a state-of-the-art facility here now and it’s improving. The pitches are getting better, the sports science departments are getting better and now we’ve got one of the best medical facilities in the world.

“We are trying to attract players and, when they come, they know they are going to get the best of everything. That’s what Manchester United’s all about.”
