What’s next Practicing ignoring places that smell of other dogs
Now 17 months old, Shiba continues to be a content, affectionate pup who loves to be around people. She brightens up everyone’s day at the kennel, and greets all-comers with rounds of enthusiastic tail wags.
Shiba is making excellent progress in learning the advanced skills required of her, and also adapting to the daily routines at the kennels. She is accomplished at the cues — “find”, “visit”, “lap” and “counter”. Aside from learning, Shiba is having a fantastic time making lots of new puppy friends, reuniting with her siblings and playing with her toys.
On regular field trips in the local area, Shiba is always extremely well-behaved. She good at walking at heel and side whilst consistently making eye contact and checking in on her handler. She ignores other dogs when working, but sometimes her exuberant nature just can’t resist saying hello when passers-by try to talk to her, which of course, they shouldn’t! Since her last Pupdate, she has mastered hopping on and off travelators and escalators.
Shiba is on her way to becoming a wonderful, kind and caring Assistance Dog. She visibly enjoys learning new skills. Shiba’s happy personality is infectious, making her an absolute delight to be around.
