Over 30 years of partnership and research collaboration
Canon Medical Systems ANZ, MonashHeart and Monash Cardiovascular Research Centre are celebrating over 30 years of association, partnership and research collaboration.
The partnership program established in Australia was to create opportunities for Canon Medical (formerly Toshiba Medical) to work with a range of specialists across many disciplines in exciting areas such as clinical research, technology development, improvements in equipment and its use and user education. Canon Medical and MonashHeart together have achieved significant milestones through collaboration in research.
One of the crucial outcomes of the Partnership program was producing research for publication in peer review journals, local clinical white papers, clinical & technical case studies and other research related material. Using the data from Canon Medical’s Aquilion ONE 320-row CT scanner, 77 publications have been achieved in clinical areas including Cardia, MSK, Respiratory and Oncology as of end of March 2017.
With the assistance from Canon Medical, Monash Medical Centre Cardiology Department (precursor of MonashHeart) was also pioneered in teaching via live-case broadcasts direct from the cardiac catheter laboratory. In 2002, the centre broadcasted several live clinical cases directly to the Paris Stent meeting.
The partnership continues in establishing a site for development, beta testing, implementation and research on CMS medical technology. We will continue to work together to promote, report and promulgate advances in cardiac imaging and intervention with the singular aim to improve patient outcomes.
